About
This existing victorian terraced house, in the borough of Hackney near Clissold Park, was originally a cold, dark and uninsulated store room. It blocked all access to the rear garden and had poor natural daylight.
The brief was to create a light, spacious kitchen for a couple with a child, allowing for better access to the rear garden and a space for the client to indulge in their respective love of cooking and gardening.
The works included the demolition of part of some internal partitions, enlarging existing openings, forming new open plan living. All to create a modern and open family space. At the centre of the project was upgrading the existing poor quality extension, it was insulated above current building regulation standards and included all modern conforts such as underfloor heating.
The small doors and windows were replaced by large sliding folding door, large windows and a large rooflight, all to allow easy access door to the garden and allowing for the new extension to be flooded with daylight.
The clients are now able to enjoy their kitchen and entertain friends and family as they had hoped
